This pumpkin with his little friend perfectly symbolizes the sun festival half-way between the Autumn Equinox and Winter Solstice.  Known as Samhain, Halloween or All-Hallows Eve/All Saints Day, this festival recognizes the time when the veil between the human and spirit worlds is the thinnest.  It is a time to honor ancestors and prepare for the coming darkness of winter.
